Ok, I'm mostly posting this so that I can remember it!!
So Evan and I just had a very interesting conversation. We are sitting here eating lunch and he said, "Mommy, what do you think about when you're nervous?" I wasn't sure exactly what he meant by this, so I asked him a few probing questions and finally determined that he was asking what stuff makes me nervous. He gave me the examples of "bad stuff" and things like that, so I told him that yes, sometimes bad stuff makes me nervous, and that talking to people I don't know also makes me nervous, etc. Then I asked him what kinds of things make him nervous. He named a few things like "bad stuff" again, as well as "guys with masks on like at Halloween," and "Transforming Daddy's Optimus Prime." Now, I don't know where that last one came from, lol! Anyway, so we talked for a few minutes about why those things make him nervous, then we talked about some good things he can think about when he starts to "think nervous things." We decided that thinking about his puppy, his dinosaur Spiney and his "best friend airplane" were good things to think about. I love how open he is becoming about things. He is not afraid to ask questions, and sometimes his questions are pretty deep and they throw me for a loop! I always try to figure exactly what he's asking and how much he understands before I dive into an answer, and he never ceases to amaze me at his understanding of things! What an awesome person he is becoming...I am so blessed to be his mother!!
